Ira Alpert
Treasurer
Responsible for recording, presenting reports, and advising the Board and Congregation on CBD budget and finance issues. Ira is a retired healthcare executive who volunteers for healthcare, Companion Animal, Congregation Beth David, and university groups (USC and UCLA). Ira's interests include but are not limited to dogs, cars, and sailing.

Vice Presidents Ways and Means
The Ways and Means Committee works to hard to create a solid economic base for CBD by raising funds to fill the gaps in our annual operating budget. We seek to imagine, organize, and carry out various fun events that engage not only CBD members but the larger community as well. Barry is a professional archaeologist, while Dona is an educator employed by the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education. They moved to the County in 2008 after spending nearly 20 years raising four children in Fresno.

Lisa Simon
Vice President Membership
Working with her outstanding Membership Committee, Lisa is responsible for the recruitment, integration, and retention of members. For over 15 years, Lisa has taught marketing and sales at Cal Poly while consulting in the field of qualitative research. Lisa enjoys spending time with her family (husband Ivan, son Ben, and daughter Sharon), taking long walks, and drinking chai with her friends.

Joan S. Bauman
Co-First Vice President
Joan is Co-First Vice President with Susan Cedars. As such, Joan and Susan chair the Personnel Committee which handles all matters dealing with the search for, hiring, and evaluation of employees of CBD. Joan has been a family law attorney since 1977 and a Certified Family Law Specialist since 1990. Joan and her husband Phil have been married since 1971 and have two children, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.

Wendy Wendt
Secretary
Wendy takes minutes at all CBD Board meetings. Other areas of personal interest and involvement at CBD include Religious School, and music. Wendy is a freelance grant writer and facilitator with local schools, government, and nonprofits. She lives in Los Osos with husband Dean, two kids (fifth and seventh grade), 23 fish and a very smart miniature poodle. Regular hiking, jogging and boogie boarding with friends and family are highlights in Wendy's life.

Sari H. Dworkin
Social Action Committee Co-Chair
Working with her co-chair and members of the committee Sari is responsible for assisting with the many social justice issues and projects the committee is involved in. Sari taught Counseling Courses at California State University, Fresno for 25 years. She is currently retired and has a part time psychology practice. Sari and her wife, Kathryn, enjoy cultural events, traveling and hiking.

Jon-Erik Storm
Representative at Large
Jon-Erik is an attorney with his own practice and serves as an arbitrator for the State Bar of California. In addition to his law practice, Jon-Erik is deeply involved in the Jewish community. Jon-Erik teaches Hebrew at Congregation Beth David. Jon-Erik is also Vice-President and Treasurer of the Jewish Community Center of San Luis Obispo and a member of Temple Ner Shalom.

Linda Wolff
Religious School Co-Chair
Linda works with her co-chair Mark Sada, and the religious school committee to help support the school and acts as a liaison between the principal and school staff and the Board. Linda is a pediatric physical therapist working at California Children’s Services and in private practice. She loves to travel, trail run, and garden. Linda also loves to camp and explore with her husband Karma, and sons Mila and Shey.

Lisa Horowitz McCann
Youth Activities
Lisa is responsible for supporting our teen youth group (SLTOY) board and an Early Childhood Education committee so they can create and enjoy Jewish social, religious and educational activities that serve CBD’s youth and integrate them in congregational life. Lisa is an Evironmental Program Manager for the Central Coast Water Board, a state water quality protection agency. She has worked in various aspects of water resource management for 25 years. Lisa enjoys reading, running, hiking, camping (particularly with her family), live folk/rock music (especially with her husband), double cappuccinos (especially with her girlfriends), good red wine (with anybody) and she left her heart in San Francisco.

Randy Harris
Adult Education CoChair
Randy works with Raanan Doron and our wonderful committee we plan and schedule interesting programs, classes, and seminars on diverse topics giving our adult members the opportunity for life-long teaching, learning and discussion. While I am currently retired, with my MA in Psychology, I had previously worked as a human factors engineer and then project manager for a Telecom company in Silicon Valley, before moving to Los Osos and working as a technical writer for Lockheed Martin. I celebrated my 37th anniversary with my life’s partner Judy this year, spending most of our free time with our terrific two grandchildren (with daughter Heather and son-in-law too of course) as well as our recently married son Colin. My other passions are travelling, hiking, especially in the Sierras, history and golf.

Mark Sada
Religious School Committee Co-Chair
Along with co-chair Linda Wolff and the resligious school committee, Mark is responsible for the operations of the religious school. Mark is a practicing cardiologist in San Luis Obispo. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Elana, and his four children (Hannah (15), Robert (15), Natalie (12) and Catrina (9)). His hobbies include tennis, skiing, and backpacking.

Phil Bauman
The Building and Real Estate Chair Person
Along with his committee members Mike Blum and Gregg Loberstien, the Building and Real Estate Committee is responsible for the care and welfare of the CBD’s physical facility. The first half of Phil’s career was as a psychotherapist and the “ladder” half as a building contractor. Phil and his first wife Joan live in Morro Bay and their kids and grandkids live in Los Angeles.
