Welcome to Our Family of Families
Congregation Beth David is San Luis Obispo County’s oldest and largest Jewish congregation, located on California’s beautiful Central Coast. A member of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), we take great pride in the breadth of our membership: we come from far and wide geographically and across the spectrum of observances. We are, above all, a family of Jewish families, encouraging individuals to seek and define their own personal relationship to Judaism. We understand that "families" come in all shapes and sizes and we welcome them all.
We are delighted to welcome guests to join us in worship and learning. As we strive to ensure the comfort and safety of our congregation, we kindly request that all guests email us in advance of attending services, classes or events so that we may welcome you properly.

Thursday, May 9th 6:30p to 8:00p
For the past 8 months, Mark Getten has been part of a fellowship with the Jewish Studio Project (JSP), a Berkeley CA based organization that teaches a technique of art making inspired by Judaism. A central theme of JSP is that we are all created creative, and that we all have the capacity to make art, even if we’ve never considered ourselves artists and maybe haven’t made visual art since we were children. The focus is on the process itself, and not on the outcome, so there is no pressure on any participants. As part of Mark’s fellowship, he will be leading a JSP session at Beth David on Thursday, May 9, from 6:30- 8:00 PM. This session is for anyone, whether you are an experienced artist, or whether you’ve always considered yourself completely lacking in artistic ability. Art supplies will be provided, so you only need to bring yourself (and you might want to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.)
